Chaucer College was founded in 1992 by Mr Hiroshi Kawashima. It is an independent College of Higher Education for Japanese students from Shumei University, located on the main campus of the University of Kent, close to the beautiful and historic city of Canterbury. The College forms part of the Chaucer group of Colleges, the UK arm of the Shumei Foundation, as does its sister college, Kingsgate, located near Broadstairs.

It is a residential college with accommodation in individual rooms for about 200 students. All students have access to leisure facilities at the University of Kent.

We are looking for families who can offer a warm welcome to students throughout the year and who are willing to involve them in family activities.

A. From April to August we have 18 year-old first year undergraduate students from Shumei University in Japan who are in England for five months, with two weeks on homestay. We will allocate one student per family. We pay £110 per week
